Dental Fillings
These are treatments done to restore decayed teeth. We at Dr. Supriya’s Dental Clinic use tooth coloured fillings also known as composites. During earlier days, the teeth used to be filled with Silver amalgam (silver fillings) However, for silver fillings, a lot of the toothstructure needed to be drilled.
Also they were not aesthetic. Moreover there was leaching out of the mercury from these fillings leading to mercury toxicity. Since we don’t gamble with your health, we do composite fillings. Composites are aesthetic (tooth coloured) and are bonded to the tooth. Hence very little amount of tooth structure needs to be drilled thereby putting them into the conservative approach and making them the best choice for fillings.
Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment or endodontic treatment is the treatment of choice to save the tooth in the following situations:
- Tooth decay which involves the nerve structure/pulp of the tooth.
- In cases of trauma to the tooth, which leads to fracture and discolouration of the tooth.
- At times elective Root Canal is needed for aesthetic purposes by a cosmetic dentist if it indicates the volume of the tooth is disturbing the proposed smile design.
- At times elective Root Canal is needed for aesthetic purposes by a cosmetic dentist if it indicates the volume of the tooth is disturbing the proposed smile design.
Crowns and Bridges
Dental Crowns are a tooth-shaped cap which is placed on the tooth to restore the shape, size, and appearance of the tooth. In layman’s terms, it is called a cap A bridge is an artificial prosthesis that replaces a missing tooth. For a bridge, the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth/teeth are used as supports and the missing tooth is replaced.

Dental Implants
Are you missing a tooth or several and worry you will never be the same. Don’t worry, we can restore them using dental implants. Dental Implants are small titanium posts directly placed into your jawbone to replace a missing tooth root.
The post acts as an anchorage or foundation for common dental restorations, renewing your ability to speak, chew, and smile with full confidence.A major advantage of an implant is that no adjacent teeth need to be prepared or ground down to hold your new replacement tooth in place. Also, for some people, ordinary bridges and dentures may not be comfortable and even not possible due to various reasons like poor ridges, sore spots, etc.
Dentures
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available -- complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
Flexible dentures: These are made from thin thermoplastic materials making them soft and comfortable. They flex and adapt to the shape of the gums. These do not have clasps for retention. Hence they are very comfortable to wear.
Gum treatments
If you view your teeth as a house, then your gums are its foundation. Therefore, keeping the foundation strong is extremely vital. Gum disease or periodontal disease is an infection of the gums, ligaments and bones supporting the teeth. The most common cause of gum disease is poor oral hygiene. However, gum disease has also been linked to diabetes, cardiovascular and Alzheimer’s disease. Mothers with periodontal disease during pregnancy have also been shown to suffer from increased risk of pre-term low birth weight.
At DSDC, our primary goal is to get back your gums to a healthy state. We then recommend a maintenance program thereafter to keep the foundation strong.
